Lalitpur to Launch Home Healthcare Service from Bhadra 1

Residents of Lalitpur Metropolitan City will begin receiving free healthcare services at home from August 17 (Bhadra 1), after the local government postponed the programme by a month.

The service had originally been scheduled to begin on July 17 (Shrawan 1), but Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan said the launch was delayed because some preparations were still incomplete.

Under the programme, residents who call the metropolitan hotline 1131 will receive a free ambulance along with a medical team consisting of a doctor, nurse, essential medicines and basic medical equipment.

The team will provide health assessments, medical consultations and primary treatment at the patient’s home. Patients requiring further care will be referred to an appropriate hospital only if home treatment is not sufficient.

Mayor Maharjan said the initiative is part of the metropolitan city’s newly approved policies and programmes for the current fiscal year, aimed at making healthcare more accessible to residents.
