Employees Brawl Inside Office at Tikapur Hospital; What Led to the Dispute?

A physical altercation broke out between two employees inside an office at Tikapur Hospital in Kailali, a provincial government hospital under the Sudurpashchim Provincial Government.

A video of the incident involving Laboratory In-Charge Umesh Bajgain and Physiotherapist Anil Tiwari has gone viral on social media.

According to the hospital, the incident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hospital officials said Bajgain was heading toward the administrative office on official duty when Tiwari suddenly confronted and attacked him.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Tiwari rushing toward Bajgain and punching him. Bajgain is then seen retaliating by kicking Tiwari in self-defense.

    What Led to the Dispute?
According to hospital sources, the dispute stemmed from a recent procurement process involving laboratory equipment and supplies. Tiwari had filed a written complaint with Medical Superintendent Dr. Rem Kumar Rai, accusing Laboratory In-Charge Bajgain and other staff members of financial irregularities in the procurement.

A discussion on the matter was being held in Tiwari’s office on Monday afternoon in the presence of Dr. Rai. During the meeting, Tiwari allegedly used abusive language and behaved disrespectfully toward both Bajgain and Dr. Rai. Bajgain reportedly responded by asking Tiwari not to provoke unnecessary conflict before leaving the meeting and returning to his office.

The victim alleges that Tiwari followed him from the meeting room and assaulted him in the corridor and inside his office, despite the Medical Superintendent being present nearby.

Although the hospital administration has not publicly clarified the exact cause of the dispute, Bajgain maintains that he left the discussion after Tiwari verbally abused those present, and that Tiwari later entered his office and physically attacked him.

Following the incident, the hospital management committee formed a separate investigation committee to determine the facts surrounding the case.

Meanwhile, the Tikapur Area Police Office confirmed that Tiwari has been taken into custody and that legal proceedings are underway.
