Finance Minister announced a 100% increase in the night duty allowance for nurses while presenting the national budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 BS.
Under the new provision, nurses working night shifts in hospitals will receive double the previous allowance, which had remained at Rs 150 per shift. The government has also increased transportation support for Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) by 50%.
The measures are aimed at recognising the contribution of frontline health workers and strengthening healthcare service delivery. Health officials say the increased allowances and benefits are expected to boost morale among nurses and community health volunteers, who play a vital role in providing healthcare services across Nepal.
