Thousands of Pharmacy Licences Automatically Revoked for Failure to Renew

Nepal’s Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has announced the automatic cancellation of pharmacy licences that were not renewed within the legally prescribed deadline.

In a public notice issued on June 16, the department said that licences, recommendation letters and related certificates that had exceeded their renewal period would be deemed invalid under the provisions of the Drugs Act.

The DDA stated that operators of affected pharmacies must verify the status of their licences and complete the required legal procedures before continuing business. The department also urged medicine retailers to comply with existing laws and regulatory guidelines governing the sale and distribution of pharmaceutical products.

The move is part of efforts to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure compliance within Nepal’s pharmaceutical sector.
