Prof. Dr. Smriti Karki Assumes Office as BPKIHS Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Dr. Smriti Karki officially assumed office as the new Vice-Chancellor of the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan on Monday.

Prime Minister and BPKIHS Chancellor Balendra Shah appointed Karki as Vice-Chancellor on July 8 (24 Asar) as part of appointments to six vacant vice-chancellor positions at public academic institutions.

A professor of pathology, Karki previously headed the institute’s Department of Pathology. She earned her MD in Pathology from BPKIHS and has also served as a member of its Executive Committee.

Senior officials, including the acting chief executive, dean, deputy hospital director, assistant hospital directors, spokespersons, school and college chiefs, department heads and matrons, were present during the handover ceremony.
