Kathmandu district has been officially declared a Fully Immunised and Sustainable Vaccination District after ensuring that all eligible children have received the government’s mandatory vaccines.
The Bagmati Provincial Government presented the certification to the Kathmandu District Vaccination Coordination Committee on Thursday.
The declaration follows a district-wide household survey that confirmed all children from birth to 15 months and 16 months to 23 months had access to the national immunisation programme. Initially, three children had not received any vaccines, while 138 had missed doses. Health workers subsequently vaccinated all of them, achieving full immunisation coverage.
The campaign aims to reduce child mortality and protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring timely completion of all routine immunisations.
