The National Identity Card will be mandatory from Poush 1 for new enrollment, renewal, and accessing services under the Health Insurance Program.
The Health Insurance Board, at its second board meeting held on Asoj 12, decided to make the National Identity Card mandatory for citizens aged 16 and above.
Similarly, from Poush 1, all insured families will be required to update their details through the HIB E-Portal.
According to the Board, the measure is expected to ensure the identity of insured individuals, control duplicate enrollment, improve KYC updates, and make claims management more effective.
The Board has also decided to introduce an AI-based claims review system, along with three other digital reforms, to further digitize and streamline the health insurance system.
